Popular favorite festivals return to mingle with exciting upstarts

Snowmass Village, CO : March 1st, 2007 — In 2007, Snowmass’ summer calendar offers something for everyone from adventurers to children to foodies. Popular favorite festivals and national championships return to mingle with exciting young events, while the music scene promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

“We’ve lined up a spectacular schedule of events for 2007 and we’re thrilled to be getting the word out so early this year,” says Susan Hamley, Marketing Director for Snowmass Village. “The schedule complements the full spectrum of daily activities and adventures that Snowmass offers.”

2007 Summer Schedule:

June 8-10 Chili Pepper & Brew Fest
Three days of cold brews, hot chili and smokin’ national music highlight this food & music extravaganza. International Chili Society aficionados and microbrewers go head to head in prestigious competitions and public tasting, while national talent including headliner Ziggy Marley rocks the “Pepper Hill” outdoor venue, which will be sporting $200,000 in improvements including new sod and a state-of-the-art sound system and stage roofing. Previous performers have included Medeski, Martin & Wood, Johnny Lang, Keller Williams and Michael Franti & Spearhead.

June 16-17 NEW! Inaugural La Sportiva Trail Race Trifecta Snowmass Village offers a full weekend of races for the whole family on its 40-mile network of trails, including a 5K, a hill climb, and a half marathon, which all start and finish in Snowmass. Individual event prizes and a $5,000 combined cash purse are offered.

June 23 Parrot Head Block Party
This island ode to Jimmy Buffet sweeps visitors away to a tropical paradise complete with music, food & drink specials, and the laid back fun of Hawaiian shirts, flip flops and margaritas. This relaxed island celebration is a tranquil break from Aspen’s Jazz Aspen Snowmass scene.

June 28 Snowmass Summer of Free Music Series
(July 5, 12, 19, 26 and Aug. 2, 9, 16, 23)
Produced by distinguished Jazz Aspen/Snowmass since 1994, this immensely popular free weekly concert series brings top blues, rock, R&B and Latin performers to Snowmass. Past acts have included Sam Bush, Jon Cleary and the Subdudes.

June 30 Independence Day Celebration
Snowmass celebrates the 4th on the 30th with a one-of-a-kind evening that includes a free concert by a renowned national act and a vibrant half hour light show by one of the most sought-after light show designers in the world. Come rain, shine, or fire ban, the show goes on in Snowmass!

July 12-15 Blast the Mass The region’s best mountain bikers head to Snowmass to compete in the prestigious Yeti Cycles Mountain States Cup series stop that includes cross country,4-cross, Super-D, and downhill competitions.

July 20-22 Snowmass Antiques Fair
Forty respected antique dealers from a 12-state region bring a diverse antiques mall to the mountains. Goods range from estate jewelry to European furniture to fine art and fill the Snowmass Village Mall with antiques for every budget.

July 21-22 26th Snowmagical Family Fun Fest
Two days of free family entertainment fill a schedule packed with back-to-back magic and family shows, movies, educational components and kid-friendly workshops. A Friday night outdoor movie and a magic dine-around and cabaret show on Saturday highlight this family affair.

July 26-28 U.S. Open Mountainboarding Championships
Snowmass is home to the ultimate extreme summer action when mountainboarders converge for a sixth year of national boardercross and slopestyle big air finals. Kids can come early for a special camp with the pros as well and get tips on their hottest dirt moves and tricks.

August 4 Massive Music & Movies
Snowmass is home to the best free music in the mountains, and this event promises a blockbuster line up of national music talent and movies.

August 4-5 Mountain Masterpieces Arts & Crafts Fair
Forty arts & crafts vendors descend on the Snowmass Village Mall with diverse wares ranging from pottery to photography to fine art and more high-end items.

August 10-12 Snowmass National presented by Clif Bar
The National Mountain Bike Series, the U.S.’s premier mountain bike series, holds its finals in Snowmass for the second year in a row. Nonstop action includes cross country, short track, downhill, and 4-cross competitions.

August 17-19 Snowmass Wellness Experience
Rejuvenation happens naturally when top wellness experts such as Dan Millman, Dr. Barry Bittman, Steve Hesse, and Dr. Pamela Peeke converge on Snowmass for a spectacular weekend dedicated to fitness, nutrition and spirituality. Diverse fitness classes such as multiple Yoga Classes (including Yoga with Chocolate!), guided nature hikes, and fun events make this the ultimate wellness getaway.

August 25 Snowmass Celtic Festival
Ancient Celtic traditions are revived at this highland festival that includes competitions such as the Clachneart, the Caber (throwing 16-foot logs!), and the Sheaf Toss. Celtic music, dance, and clans from around the state will be on-hand as well.

September 1-3 Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Festival
Known for attracting big crowds and even bigger music talent, this celebrated Labor Day festival is the music highlight of the summer. Prior acts such as Jack Johnson, Sheryl Crowe, Widespread Panic, and Bob Dylan have take center stage in Town Park during the day, while more intimate performances keep the bars and restaurants packed into the wee hours at night.

September 8 Oktoberfest
Snowmass melds traditional harvest elements such as beer gardens, polka music, and German food & dance with more modern music acts and festivities all afternoon.

September 13-16 Snowmass Balloon Festival
Thirty hot air balloons converge over Snowmass creating an unforgettable scenic palette of colorful fall mountains and vibrant balloons. Daily hot air balloon competitions, family fun, and a spectacular night glow event make this a fall “must” in the Rockies.

September 15 Wine & Jazz Festival
Combined with the Snowmass Balloon Festival, this special Snowmass Rotary fundraiser offers the perfect fall pairing of color and taste. Over 50 international vintners and a dozen regional chefs offer tastings in addition to live jazz music, a silent auction, a wine tasters dinner and more.
