Music in the Mountains
Summer 2008
Snowmass Village, Colorado

With the most
sophisticated outdoor sound system in the mountains,
Snowmass is a mecca for true music lovers, bringing
distinguished acts such as John Hiatt, Nickel Creek,
Derek Trucks, Shawn Colvin, WAR, Blind Boys of
Alabama, Average White Band, and The Funk Brothers
to audiences for free.
The free weekly concert
series has been
hailed by the Los Angeles Times as one of the best in the
nation. These events are programmed by Jazz Aspen
Snowmass, the same venerable institution that brings
over 30,000 people to Snowmass over Labor Day each
year for concerts by performers such as Widespread
Panic, Jack Johnson, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, and
John Legend.
The Massive Music
series celebrates its fifth anniversary in 2008, so
check back for updates on Snowmass' massive music
acts to be announced this spring.

5TH ANNUAL CHILI PEPPER & BREW FEST. Elite
invitational microbrew and International Chili Society
sanctioned chili competitions and tastings are paired
with outstanding concerts on Pepper Hill. Previous acts

Aug. 21 |
SNOWMASS SUMMER OF FREE MUSIC SERIES. This free
weekly Thursday night concert series is “one of the best
line-ups of free music in the nation” (Los Angeles
Times) and is programmed by the venerable Jazz

SNOWMASS INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION.
This patriotic extravaganza with a free outdoor concert
by Grammy-nominated Mavis Staples and fireworks
on July 5 is the highlight of July 4

33RD ANNUAL SNOWMASS BALLOON FESTIVAL. The
Saturday Evening Glow with a barbecue and free concert,
is the highlight of this festival, considered one of the
